Lance Lee Tyo

July 14, 1948 — April 20, 2026

Lance Lee Tyo, born July 14, 1948, in Zanesville, Ohio, to Levi and Dorothy (Perkins) Tyo, passed away on Monday, April 20, 2026, at his home in Bonita Springs, FL.

On February 2, 1968, Lance married the love of his life and high school sweetheart, Wanda (Hall) Tyo, beginning a devoted partnership that spanned decades. Together they built a life centered on faith, family, and friendship. He is survived by his beloved wife Wanda; his son Brad (Tracy) Tyo; his daughter Crystal (Joe) Mathias; and his cherished grandchildren, Justin, Spencer, and Audrey Tyo, and Andrew and Jack Mathias.

He is also survived by siblings Nancy (Paul) Clift, Jim (Cindy) Tyo, and Jeff Tyo. Additionally, family members of Wanda include Marlene Hall, Cliff Eggleton, Pete and Sharon Hall, Sandra and Richard Neal, Linda Hall, Jeanee Steier, Christina and Gary Wilking, Cathy and Mac McGuire, and many nieces and nephews.

Lance graduated from Bowling Green State University in May 1970 with a bachelor's degree. During his time there, he played baseball as a self-taught left-handed pitcher while working several jobs, including at Kroger and Pizzanellos;an early testament to his determination and strong work ethic.

He began his professional career in real estate in 1972 with Reynolds Real Estate and went on to serve the Toledo area and Southeast Michigan for many years with Re/Max Preferred Associates. Even in what others might consider retirement, Lance continued doing what he loved- earning his Florida real estate license and working with John R. Wood; Christie's International in Naples. For Lance, real estate was never just a career; it was a passion. He loved the chase, the art of the deal, and had a unique gift for turning clients into lifelong friends.

Sports were a constant thread throughout Lance's life. From Little League baseball in Cheshire, Ohio, to Legion Ball in his teenage years, baseball remained his favorite. In high school, he also excelled in football and basketball, once scoring over 30 points in a single game- before the three-point line existed. He remained an avid sports fan, especially of college football, cheering on Ohio State and, more recently, Indiana.

Lance found great joy in golf, walking, reading, and studying his Bible. He treasured time spent entertaining friends and family and loved playing cards- especially euchre- with close companions. Known for his competitive spirit, he never handed out easy victories; his children and grandchildren knew that every win had to be earned.

Nothing brought him greater happiness than watching his children and grandchildren in their activities and sports or sharing a round of golf with them. Above all, Lance was a man of deep faith who loved God, cherished his family, and lived a life full of purpose, generosity, and love.
