Ladonna M. Lucas

LaDonna Mae (nee Kurfis) Lucas, 82, of Luckey, Ohio, passed away on Saturday, August 7, 2021. She was born May 18, 1939 in Toledo, Ohio to the late Edward and Lucille Kurfis. Preceded in death by her parents, sister, Sondra Bockbrader (nee Kurfis) and great-niece, Valerie Bennett. LaDonna is survived by her husband, Thomas Lucas, sons, Robert (Denise) Lucas and Troy (Jennifer) Lucas; and grandchildren, Mason, Max, Makenna, Evan, Carter, and Avery; her brother, Thomas (Diane) Kurfis and extended family. Thomas and LaDonna were married in 1958. They quickly settled in Luckey, Ohio where they raised their boys. LaDonna worked as a secretary at various local schools, retiring from Wood Lane – Wood County Board of Developmental Disabilities. You didn’t have to go far to find a relative of LaDonna or Thomas; they loved being so close to their family and added many close camping friends along the way. They delighted in being active and adoring parents and later, grandparents. The early years of raising kids involved various gatherings with extended family and friends, and many different sporting events of Robert and Troy. You could always find LaDonna on a bleacher cheering on one of her boys. The Lucas home was always active with family and friends who would gather for game nights, sleepovers, and of course, food! Ladonna and Thomas always made sure everyone was well fed. Vacations were typically at some camping spot filled with laughter around picnic tables and campfires in Mohican State Park, Pokagon State Park, and Sauder Village. LaDonna enjoyed reading, cross-stitch, and puzzles. She also loved to play cards, bingo, and color, especially if one of her grandkids were sitting nearby. Ladonna will be remembered for her devotion to raising her two sons, and the love and care given to her six grandchildren. Friends and family will be received Tuesday, August 17, 2021 from 9:30-10:30 a.m. at Witzler-Shank-Walker Funeral Home, 222 E. South Boundary Street, Perrysburg (419-874-3133) where a funeral service will be held at 10:30 a.m. Burial will follow in Troy Township Cemetery.
