Kum Sun Rice

March 28, 1941 — July 26, 2010

RICE, Kum Sun Sue Chae, passed away Monday, July 26, 2010 surrounded by her loving family. She was born March 28, 1941 in Andong, Korea. Sue was one of four siblings. She relocated to the U.S. in 1966 with her military serviceman husband. They were married for 49 years. She was amusingly feisty and had a wonderful sense of humor; her laughter could brighten a room. Shopping was a passion of hers, and often commented that she needed to punch a daily timecard at her favorite shopping spots. Spending time with family and friends were the highlights of her life. She made the most amazing feasts at holidays and family get-togethers. Bowling with her granddaughters also brought her great joy. She was a self-taught and gifted seamstress. Sue will be dearly missed by her husband, William D. Rice; sons, Craig and William D. Rice; daughter, Cindy Rice Crites; sister, Nam Chae Ward; four grandchildren, one nephew, and two nieces. She was preceded in death by her mother, father, and brother. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, July 31st at 3:00 pm at the Walker Funeral Home in Toledo, OH. Friends may visit prior to the service from 1:00 to 3:00 pm. The family requests that memorial contributions be given to a childrens literacy program or a charity of your choice.
