Kristy McVicker Kress, 36, of Toledo, died suddenly on Friday, February 7, 2014 at The Toledo Hospital. She was born April 26, 1977 in Toledo and graduated from Springfield High School in 1995. Kristy was employed with Extended Stay America as a general manager for 18 years. Kristy was the recipient of a donor heart in 2009 after being diagnosed with PPCM in 2008. In her typical determined form, she returned to work 7 days after her transplant. She then became an active supporter of Donate Life and Life Connection. In her free time, Kristy enjoyed traveling to Disney World and Las Vegas, and found her greatest enjoyment in spending time with family, especially her husband and son. She had a certain energy that surrounded her and she was an absolute joy to share time with. Kristy was a devoted wife and mother and will also be remembered for her loving and generous personality and the courage with which she lived her life. She married Chad Kress on April 19, 2001 and he lovingly survives. Also left to cherish her memory are her beloved son, Hunter Cole; parents, Patrick and Diana McVicker; siblings, Donene John Daubenmeyer, Jenny Dan Horak and Keith Rick Angela McVicker; paternal grandparents, Edward and Gloria McVicker; her husbands parents, Don and Linda Kress; sister-in-law and best friend, Lexy Robert Batey; sister-in-law, Jenean Mark LaCorte; and many aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews and friends. She was preceded in death by maternal grandparents, Henry and Hilda Griffith. Visitation will be from 5-8 p.m., Monday and 11 a.m. - 12 p.m., Tuesday in the Walker Funeral Home, 5155 Sylvania Ave. west of Corey Rd. where memorial services to celebrate Kristys life will be held at 12:00 p.m., Tuesday, February 11, 2014.
