Koppatschek Klaus B. Klaus Koppatschek, age 79, died Friday, February 6, 2009 at his home in Sylvania Township. Klaus was born January 15, 1930 to Max and Gertrude Koppatschek in Kudova, Germany. Klaus came to the United States in 1956 where he soon met Ruth Espenlaub. They married in Toledo in 1957 and remained in the area to raise three children and build a successful kennel business together. In addition to owning and operating Central Kennels, Klaus also worked at AP Parts as a welder for 30 years. He enjoyed the outdoors, especially snow skiing and swimming. Klaus meticulously cared for his yard and was passionate about mowing the lawn with his riding mower. In addition to his wife, Klaus is survived by his children, Sonia Tim Kohler, Sylvia Koppatschek, and Fritz Cindy Koppatschek; grandchildren, Laura, John, Clayton, Sage, and Brooke; and sister, Roswita Horst Schmitt, Germany. Visitation will be held on Monday, February 9, 2009 from 12-1:00pm at the Walker Funeral Home, 5155 Sylvania Avenue west of Corey Rd. followed by funeral services at 1:00pm. Interment will follow at Ottawa Hills Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society, Northwest Ohio Chapter, 740 Commerce Dr., Suite B, Perrysburg, OH 43551.
