Kirk F. Hise

Kirk F. Hise, 80, passed away Thursday, February 25, 2010, at the Edward Marion Knight Hospice Center, Perrysburg, Ohio. Kirk was born in Toledo, Ohio, to Arch and Fern Hise on November 4, 1929. He graduated from Bedford High School in Temperance, Michigan, and then joined the 13th Air Force, stationed in Japan for four years. During that time he played with the Air Force band. Kirk later attended Anderson College in Anderson, Indiana. He married Eleanor Cowdrey September 8, 1956, at North Cove Blvd. Church of God, Toledo, Ohio. Kirk worked for the CSX Railroad for 33 years retiring as a conductor in 1988. He was a member of the Northwood Church of God, the American Legion Post #324 of Genoa, and the American Legion Band. He was a member of the Genoa Area Kiwanis for over 25 years. He also served on the committee for Boy Scout Troup 310 for many years. Kirk enjoyed taking railroad related photographs and was well known for the many books he wrote on railroad history. Kirk was preceded in death by his parents and brothers, Lynn and Kenneth. His survivors include his loving wife of 54 years, Eleanor, and four sons, Douglas Karen of Gibsonburg, Eric of Genoa, Kenneth Donna of Bowling Green, and David of Port Clinton; four grandchildren, Andrew, Amanda, Jack and Samuel; and brother, Ronald Hise of Ridgecrest, CA. Visitation for Kirk will be 2-4 and 6-8 p.m., Monday, March 1, 2010, in the Robinson-Walker Funeral Home Crematory, 501 West St., Genoa. The funeral service will be conducted 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, March 2, 2010, in the Northwood Church of God, 1838 S. Coy Rd., Northwood, OH 43619, where additional visitation will be one hour prior to the service. Following the funeral service, the family will gather for a light luncheon and a time of fellowship in the church hall. The graveside service with full military honors will take place at 2:00 p.m. in the Clay Township Cemetery, Genoa. In lieu of flowers, those planning expressions of sympathy are asked to consider the Northwood Church of God, the Genoa American Legion Post #324, 302 West St. Genoa, OH 43430, or Hospice of Northwest Ohio, 30000 E. River Rd., Perrysburg, OH 43551.
