Kevork D. George Tchobanian, age 81 of Toledo passed away Friday, April 1, 2011 at the University of Toledo Medical Center. He was born January 11, 1930 in Baghdad, Iraq to Dicran and Mariam Tchobanian. A photographer by trade he came to the United States in 1961 and worked at Kodak as a darkroom technician. He retired from Toledo Edison as a mail messenger where he worked for 18 years. He was an avid swimmer and in his earlier years swam the Tigris River and continued his love for swimming at Centennial Quarry. Kevork enjoyed gardening and spent his weekends tending to his yard, particularly his beloved rose bushes. Surviving is his wife Sona; daughter Seta Rodney; son Dickran Heather; and precious granddaughters, Taleen and Ani. Also surviving is a brother Hartyoun; sisters Vartoohi and Anahid; and several cousins, nieces and nephews. Friends will be received at the Walker Funeral Home 5155 Sylvania Ave. west of Corey on Tuesday from 2-4 and 6-8 PM, where funeral services will be held Wednesday at 11 AM. Interment Toledo Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers the family suggests memorials to St. Sarkis Armenian Apostolic Church, Dearborn, Michigan or St. Gregory of Narek Armenian Church, Richmond Heights, Ohio.
