Kermit Charles Rudolph

Kermit C. Rudolph age 76 of Perrysburg, Ohio passed away at the University of Toledo Medical Center surrounded by his loving family on Tuesday February 2, 2010. He suffered from a rare form of Parkinsons called Progressive Supranuclear Palsy. Kermit was born in Moline, Ohio on August 23, 1933 to John and Verna Libbe Rudolph. Kermit married Nancy Fulks on December 27, 1958. He graduated from Lake High School and Bowling Green State University in business administration. Kermit was a member of Sigma Alpha Epislon Fraternity. He served in Japan as an Army officer where he managed the largest officers club in the far East and was a customs officer in Tokyo. Upon discharge he returned to own and operate the Pemberville Lumber Co. which expanded to the Rudolph Lumber Co. on Conant Street in Maumee. He then became involved in land development where he had a special gift for recognizing potential. He developed Woodside Terrace, Angola Village, Three Meadows, Oakmont, Western Meadows in Findlay, Manhattan Blvd, Fort Meigs Shopping Centers and Cedar Business Industrial Park, among others. Kermit was an avid sports fan especially BGSU football and hockey and a long time member of the Falcon Club and Presidents Club. He followed games home and away, and often traveled with the teams where he became close to many players and their parents. While a member of the Browns Backers he went to the reunion games. Kermit had a strong work ethic but could play just as hard. Fishing was a favorite past time and he enjoyed boating on the Maumee River, Lake Erie and Sarasota, Florida waterways where he had a vacation home. His hobby was working in his yard. In 1974 he hosted a German exchange student for Maumee Rotary. This relationship has continued since then and they always felt a unique bond. A genealogy study indicated that they are related. Kermit loved to travel and especially enjoyed cruises. He has maintained many friends in Germany and Japan. He was a prankster and always was ready to help a friend. He served on the Zoning Board of Appeals, and was a fifty one year member of the First Presbyterian Church of Maumee where he was a Deacon and Elder. He is survived by his loving wife of 51 years Nancy; sons Thomas Kimberly and Stephen Susan Rudolph and cherished grandchildren, Maxwell, Samuel, Gayle, Gretchen and Hans; brothers, John Mary, Philip; sisters, Mary Oberdick and Helyn Charles Kurfess, twin sister Kathleen Ron Holzman and sister-in-law Marilyn and many nieces and nephews. Kermit was preceded in death by his brother, Frederick. Family and friends may visit Friday, February 12, 2010 from 4-8 pm in the Maison-Dardenne-Walker Funeral Home, 501 Conant St, Maumee. A memorial service will be held at First Presbyterian Church, 200 East Broadway Maumee on Saturday, February 13, 2010 at 2 pm.
