Kenneth "Kenny" Zajac

Kenny Zajac, age 93, of Toledo, passed away peacefully on Monday, April 6, 2026, surrounded by the love and memories of a life well lived. Born in Rossford on Bergin Street to John and Stella Zajac, Kenny received the sacrament of Baptism at St. Mary's Magdalen Catholic Church.

Kenny proudly served his country as an Air Force veteran of the Korean War, carrying with him a deep sense of duty, honor, and resilience throughout his life. Attending St. Anthony's for grade school and a graduate of Central Catholic High School Class of 1950, he built a foundation of the strong values he lived by every day.

On October 15, 1955, Kenny married the love of his life, Leona Sparagowski. Together they built a home of kindness and support for their daughter Linda Lee. Following retirement as a jet mechanic, Kenny dedicated his career to working at the University of Toledo Student Union as the housekeeping supervisor, where his commitment and work ethic earned the respect of colleagues and friends alike. He was known as a hardworking man who took pride in everything he did.

Outside of work, Kenny found great joy in sports and community. He was a devoted fan of University of Notre Dame football and faithfully cheered on the Toledo Rockets, especially both the men's and women's basketball teams. Whether watching a game or sharing his enthusiasm with others, his passion for sports was unmistakable.

Kenny also loved spending time with friends, especially while polka dancing-a pastime that brought him happiness and laughter throughout the years. He was not only a member of the Toledo Area Polka Association, but he and his partner Jeri Cody won 1st place in the Lagrange Street Polish Festival Polka Contest in 2001 and 2002.

Kenny is survived by his daughter Linda Lee Galernik, granddaughter Stephanie (Brett) Boehme, and twin great-grandsons Evan Robert and Anthony William. He is preceded in death by his parents, wife Leona, sister Geraldine Syrek, and son-in-law Bob Galernik.

He will be deeply missed by his family, friends, and all those whose lives he touched. Kenny's legacy of hard work, dedication, and joy will live on in the hearts of those who loved him.

Friends and family are invited to gather on Friday, April 10, 2026, from 2:00 pm to 8:00 pm at Sujkowski-Walker Funeral Home, 830 Lime City Road, Rossford, Ohio. The funeral ceremony will begin at 10:00 am on Saturday, April 11, 2026, All Saints Catholic Church. Interment will follow at Calvary Cemetery. Memorial donations may be made in Kenny's name to All Saints Catholic Church.
