Kenneth O. Weirich

Kenneth O. Weirich, 78, of Oak Harbor, Ohio died Saturday, July 22, 2017 at the Riverview Senior Healthcare Campus, Oak Harbor. He was born in Martin, Ohio on September 14, 1938 to Orval G. and Esther Marie (Blausey) Weirich. On October 14, 1961, in St. John Ev. Lutheran Church, he married Rose Mary Wargowsky and she survives. Ken was a farmer and a retiree from the Ace Hardware Company. During his early years he enjoyed bowling and playing on the church softball team. He was a 4-H advisor for the Ottawa County Shepherds. He was a past Ottawa County Farm Bureau president serving three terms as well as a member of the Cross County Farm Council. Ken enjoyed attending sheep shows and raising Dorset sheep. He was an active member of St. John Ev. Lutheran Church in Oak Harbor, serving as a Sunday school teacher, a member of the dartball team, the Men in Mission, church Council and for many, many years, the church choir. Ken was also a Luther League Advisor/sponsor and went to many youth conventions. In his free time he enjoyed model trains, reading westerns, camping and being with his family. One of his favorite things to do was cutting firewood. Ken served his country in the U.S. Army from 1961-1963 and was a proud member of the American Legion Post #114 in Oak Harbor. Ken is survived by his wife, Rose Mary, daughter, Tammy L. (Timothy) Schnitker, son, Warren (Dana) Weirich, grandchildren, Timothy B. (Courtney) Schnitker II, Thomas C. Schnitker, Weston D. Weirich and Elyse M. Weirich, brothers, Robert, Donald and Allen Weirich and sister Carol Sue Jenson. He was preceded in death by his parents. A funeral service for Ken will be conducted at 11 a.m., Wednesday, July 26, 2017 at St. John Ev. Lutheran Church. 122 W. Ottawa Street, Oak Harbor, OH. Visitation will be held in the Robinson-Walker Funeral Home & Crematory, 165 E. Water St., Oak Harbor, from 2-8 p.m. on Tuesday, July 25. Interment with Military Honors will be in the Salem Township Union Cemetery. The family suggests memorial contributions be directed to the church, Ohio Living Hospice, 1730 S.
