Kenneth J. Thompson, 80, of Oak Harbor, died Friday, March 26, 2010 at his residence. He was born on April 2, 1929 in Toledo, OH to Earl Thompson and Esther Nowak Sondergeld. On April 6, 1946 in Napoleon, OH he married Joan E. Yeisley, and she survives. Kenny worked in the trucking business all his life. He starting out hauling on his own milk route, worked for Matlack Trucking, Refiners Transport, and Leaseway Transportation before retiring. Even in retirement he still went out on his own with his own truck. Kenny was a member of St. Paul United Church of Christ, Oak Harbor. He was an avid card player and loved to hunt, fish, and boat. Kenny was also a member of the Marsh Club in Oak Harbor, which he really enjoyed. In addition to his loving wife of 63 years, Joan, Kenny is also survived by his loving family, son: Denny Nancy Thompson of Fremont, OH, son: Steve Peggy Thompson of Oak Harbor, daughter: Debbie Jack Brady of Taylors, SC, son: Tommy Thompson of Toledo, OH, 7 grandchildren, and 5 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents. Funeral services will be conducted 11:00 a.m., Monday, March 29, 2010 at the Robinson-Walker Funeral Home & Crematory, 165 E. Water St., Oak Harbor with Pastor David Voll officiating. Visitation will be on Sunday, March 28, 2010 from 2-8 p.m., with family present from 2-4 & 6-8 p.m., at the funeral home. Interment will be in Union Cemetery, Oak Harbor. Memorial contributions may be given to St. Paul United Church of Christ, Oak Harbor or Heartland Hospice.
