Kenneth Myer

Kenneth “Kenny” Wayne Myer 86, passed away peacefully after a brief illness on March 25, 2023 at Toledo Hospital. Kenny was born on June 30, 1936. Ken was the only son of Robert Kenneth and Doris Emily (Porter) Myer. Ken married Connie Velliquette, on December 9th 1961. Ken and Connie were blessed to have enjoyed over 62 years of marriage together.

Kenny was a graduate of Scott High School and attended the University of Toledo. He founded Earl’s Inc, in 1965. Ken saw the progression of the typewriter to computers, throughout his career, alongside his sons, Todd and Robb.

In his spare time, he enjoyed boating on the Great Lakes and spending his summers on Devil’s Lake. Fly Fishing on the Ausable River, winter skiing in upper Michigan, with family and friends were among his favorite things to do.

Ken and Connie could be found all over Toledo dining establishments, eating and enjoying life with life long friends, but always at the bar…their favorite place to hang out.

Kenny, a founding member of the Baker’s Dozen in Toledo, alongside with his group of friends, enriched the lives of many underprivileged families to raise money to help support them during the holiday seasons. He was passionate about giving back to his community and took pride in spending time with his family and friends.

Kenny especially loved attending Michigan Football games and cheering on the Walleye Hockey team.

Kenny, known as “Poppy” by his beloved 10 grandchildren and proud father of 4 children, enjoyed sharing memories and making new ones with each of them individually. Family was the center of his life and he cherished every minute they spent with him, no matter the distance between all.

Kenny was known by all for a kiss on the lips and a “white label with a twist”. He will be remembered and greatly missed for his love of people, love of family and his commitment to help others.

Connie, his loving wife, is left to cherish Kenny’s memory along with his children…Mike Myer, his children Gordi and Lori. Todd (Kelley) Myer, their children Josh, Jacob, Grace and Justin. Robb (Pam) Myer, their children Robbie and Eddie and Lesley Donovan, her children Shelby and Jack.

A gathering of friends and family will be held on Friday, March 31, 2023 from 2:00-6:30 pm at the Walker Funeral Home on Sylvania Avenue. In true Kenny fashion, we will honor his memory with cocktails and appetizers as we celebrate his life at 6:30pm following the visitation.
