Kenneth John Makin

Kenneth J. Makin, 83, of Genoa, Ohio, passed away Friday, October 22, 2021, at Otterbein of Perrysburg, under the care of hospice. Ken was born on January 24, 1938, in Toledo, Ohio to Earl V. and Vera Makin. He married the love of his life, Mary “Marge” (Vass) in St. Thomas Church, Toledo, on May 9, 1959. Marge preceded him in death on November 21, 2020. Ken was a millwright, working at the Jeep plant in Toledo for 30 years, retiring in 1990. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and he and Marge enjoyed traveling by motorcycles through the open west and cruising on the open seas. Their favorite special get-away place was the Abaco Islands with the warm sun, the sea and their family. They also were proud of their flowers and yard which they worked on together. Ken is survived by his children, Kevin (Gayle) Makin, Debbie (Curt) Kimball and Kent (Pam) Makin; grandchildren, Keith (Andrea) Makin, Amanda (Mike) Guy and Aubrey (Ben) Shiffert; great-grandchildren, Wyatt & Silas Makin and Aeris Guy; sisters, Joyce Dibling, Helen Tefft, and LouJean (Jim) Rouiller. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife; several siblings; and his beloved grandson, Ryan Kimball. In keeping with Ken’s wishes, there will be no visitation or services. The family suggests memorial contributions to Hospice of Northwest Ohio, 30000 E. River Rd., Perrysburg, Ohio, 43551.
