Kenneth Kwiatkowski

January 18, 1928 — September 15, 2013

Kenneth W. Kwiatkowski age 85 of Maumee, OH passed away peacefully on Sunday September 15, 2013 at Otterbein of Monclova. Ken was born in Toledo on January 18, 1928 to Walter and Phyllis Wawrzyniak Kwiatkowski. Ken attended St Anthonys Elementary School and graduated Central Catholic High School in 1946. He attended Catholic University and graduated Niagara University with a Bachelor of Science in Education in 1953. He earned his Master of Education from The University of Toledo in 1959. He taught 5th grade for 5 years and then became principal at Union School for the next 22 years until his retirement in 1989. Previously he taught at New Riegel and Bettsville. Ken was a member of St. Josephs Church, Maumee, Knights of Columbus and Phi Delta Kappa, BGSU chapter where he was a delegate to national meetings for 20 years. He was active with the Maumee Senior Center and volunteered at the Stranahan Theater and COSI. Ken was a Cub Scout leader and enjoyed camping with the Boy Scouts. He also enjoyed working with stained glass, woodworking, painting and gardening. Surviving is his loving wife of 55 years, Alberta Kwiatkowski; children, Kevin Anne Kwiatkowski, Jack LeeAnn Kwiatkowski, Ann Bill Stansfield and Keith Kwiatkowski; grandchildren, Megan, Matt, Kelly, Mark, Eric, Billy and Andrew. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Carol Kwiatkowski. Family and friends may call at the Maison-Dardenne-Walker Funeral Home 501 Conant St., Maumee on Tuesday September 17, 2013 from 3-8 pm. Prayers will begin in the funeral home on Wednesday at 10:00 am followed by the Funeral Mass at 10:30 am at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Maumee. Interment will follow in St. Joseph Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, Memorial contributions may be made to Catholic Charities or Alzheimers Research. On line condolences may be shared at walkerfuneralhomes.com
