Kenneth H. Holmes, Sr.

Kenneth H. Holmes, Sr., 61 of Marblehead, Ohio, passed away Wednesday, May 31, 2023, at the Toledo Hospital, Toledo, Ohio. He was born on December 29, 1961, the son of Ulice C. and Ruth E. (Longnecker) Holmes. He was a 1980 graduate of Danbury High School. Ken married Georgia A. (Witter) on February 2, 1990, at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Marblehead.

Ken was a truck driver for Longnecker Trucking, his uncle “Mick” Howard J. Longnecker’s company from 1981-1997. In 1997 he became a heavy equipment operator for Republic Services until his retirement in 2021.

Ken enjoyed the outdoors and spent time hunting deer and ducks, fishing on Lake Erie, three wheeling and snowmobiling. He was mechanically talented, working on anything that needed fixing. Ken was an animal lover and always had furry friends gathering around him, especially cats.

Ken is survived by his loving wife, Georgia, sons, Kenneth H. Holmes, Jr., and Brandon J. Holmes along with brother, Robert Keith (Aileen) Holmes and sister, Jane Murray. He was preceded in death by his parents, sister, Kathy Tribble, half-brother, Gary Holmes and infant brother, Tommy Holmes, along with his uncle, Howard J. “Mick” Longnecker.

Visitation for Ken is scheduled from 4:00-7:00 PM, Tuesday, June 6, 2023, at the Gerner-Wolf-Walker Funeral Home & Crematory, 216 Washington St. Port Clinton, Ohio. The funeral service will be in the funeral home at 1:30 PM, Wednesday, June 7, 2023, followed by burial in the LaCarpe Cemetery. The family suggests memorials be directed to the Humane Society of Ottawa County, 2424 E. Sand Rd., Port Clinton, OH 43452.
