Kenneth John Herwat, age 82 of Toledo passed unexpectedly on Monday, May 3, 2010 at St. Lukes Hospital. He was born on August 1, 1927 in Toledo, Ohio to Peter and Rosalie Kubiac Herwat. Ken was a WWII Navy veteran. He graduated from Macomber High School and from The University of Toledo. He went on to receive his BBA in 1991. Ken was a self employed businessman. His employment history included the Retail Credit Company 1943-1969, Toledo, Cleveland, Pittsburg, Rocky Mount, NC, Waterloo, Iowa, Oklahoma City, Munster, Indiana; Globe Glass & Trim, Chicago, 1969 1970, Personnel, Madison Bionics, Chicago, 1970 1971, Sales, Madison Bionics, Toledo 1974 1978,Sales,Shalco, Toledo 1978 1980, Sales, Quality Laboratories, Inc. 1980 to present , President, Quality Industrial Tools Ltd 1982 to present, President, Servant Leadership Center 2008 to present, Director of Development. He was a member of the Phoenix Masonic Lodge, Past Master of Triad Lodge 33 degree Mason-Scottish Rite,-Valley of Toledo, Past Chaplin of the Zenobia Temple, Royal order of Jesters, Billikens, Honorary Legion of Honor-DeMaloy, American Legion Post #335, Toledo, Past President of Allied Masonic Degrees and served as an Elder of the First Presbyterian Church of Maumee. He is survived by his loving wife Janet whom his married on August 26, 1950; two children Mark Lori Herwat and Carol Thomas Wintersmith; grandchildren, Matthew Herwat, Mark Wintersmith and Kari Wintersmith. Family and friends may visit on Thursday, May 6, 2010 from 3-8 pm in the Maison-Dardenne-Walker Funeral Home, 501 Conant St. Maumee. The Phoenix Masonic Lodge will conduct services at 7:30 pm in the funeral home on Thursday. A memorial service will be held on Friday, May 7, 2010 at 11:00 am at the First Presbyterian Church of Maumee, 200 E. Broadway Street, Maumee, Ohio.
