Kelly L. Eckel

Kelly Lee Eckel, 66, of Bowling Green, Ohio, passed away peacefully at her home on Wednesday, July 23, 2025. She was born on January 8, 1959 in Toledo, Ohio to Neil and Shirley (Ferguson) Downs. She married Jeffrey Eckel on November 18, 1983 and they shared 41 years together.

Kelly dedicated over 40 years of her professional life as a Grain Accountant at The Andersons, where her commitment and work ethic left a lasting impression on colleagues and friends alike. After retiring, she embraced the joys of life with the same passion she brought to her career.

A devoted family member and friend, Kelly cherished time spent with loved ones. Her warmth, loyalty, and sense of humor made every gathering special. She was a faithful animal lover, always surrounded by pets who brought her joy and companionship, especially her sidekick, Blue.

Kelly was an avid Michigan Football fan, proudly holding season tickets for more than 20 years. Saturdays in the fall were sacred, filled with maize and blue, and she never missed a chance to cheer on her team. She also loved planning vacations, especially Disney, always looking forward to her next adventure.

Kelly’s legacy is one of love, loyalty, and laughter. She will be deeply missed by all who knew her.

She is survived by her husband, Jeff; son, Richard (Christine) Eckel; mother, Shirley Downs; brother and sisters-in-law, Ron (Cathy) Eckel, Greg (Linda) Eckel, Brian Eckel; nieces, Nikki Haines and Jessie (Dan) Moses and great-nieces, Molly and Lilly Moses. She was preceded in death by her father, Neil and brother, Neil Downs, Jr.
