Kay A. Elwing, 75, of Genoa, Ohio, passed away at home on Thursday evening, February 17, 2022, after a brief illness. She was born in Genoa, on January 13, 1947, to Dr. William H. and Frieda M. (Snyder) Dufendock. She married Roland R. Elwing on June 8, 1968, in Genoa, they were married for 43 years, until his death in 2011.
Kay helped her father at his office in Genoa, along with her brother, Jan, for many years. She enjoyed babysitting in Germany during her husband’s deployment there, and later back home in the States. Traveling, tending her vegetable and flower gardens, reading non-fiction, and taking care of her many K-9 friends, over the years, were just some of her pastimes. She kept in daily contact with her family and treasured her time spent with her granddaughter Olivia, who affectionally called her “Mimi.” Kay enjoyed a great seafood meal and for desert; a Reese’s peanut butter cup, or two!
Kay is survived by her daughter, Erika A. (James) Mihlbauer, son, Dirk Elwing, granddaughter, Olivia K. Mihlbauer, and siblings, William C. (Jane) Dufendock and Jan P. (Melody) Dufendock. She was preceded in death by her parents and husband.
