Katrina "Trina" J. James

Katrina “Trina” J. James, 67, of Elmore, OH, passed away unexpectedly on Monday, August 11, 2025, at her home. She was born April 27, 1958, in Fort Campbell, KY, to Terry and Martha (Drake) Hanf.

A graduate of Bedford High School, Trina went on to work for the former Sun Oil Refinery in Oregon, OH, dedicating over 30 years of service before retiring. It was there in 2005 that she met Daniel James, a fellow employee. Their friendship grew into love, and they were married on June 16, 2007, at the Marblehead Lighthouse.

Trina had a deep appreciation for creativity and adventure. She enjoyed arts and crafts, whittling, and calligraphy, and was musically talented—able to play the flute, guitar, and trumpet. She loved spending time outdoors, especially scuba diving, kayaking, skiing, and boating. Growing up and well into adulthood, she cherished time on the lake with her family. A devoted mother, Trina raised her children, Trey and Kirsten, on her own with unwavering love and dedication. She also had a fondness for shopping, especially online, and embraced technology with enthusiasm—even if she didn’t always master it.

Trina is survived by her husband, Daniel James; mother, Martha Hanf; children, Kirsten Johnson and Trey (Arielle) Johnson; stepchildren, Jenn James, Jo (Juan Lopez) James, and Jon (Jade Aganus) James; grandchildren, Kyleigh Johnson, Ayla Johnson, Chase Johnson, and Lu Lopez; and brothers, Karl (Paige) Hanf and Keith (Sue) Hanf. She was preceded in death by her father, Terry Hanf, and sister, Laurie Burghardt.

Visitation will be held Sunday, August 17, 2025, from 12:00–3:00 p.m. at the Robinson-Walker Funeral Home & Crematory, 165 E. Water St., Oak Harbor, OH, where a Celebration of Life will follow at 3:00 p.m. A final farewell tribute—“Smoke ’em if you got ’em”—will be shared outside the funeral home in her honor.
