Kathryn L. Schroeder, 89, of Graytown, died Wednesday morning, February 6, 2008, in St. Charles-Mercy Hospital, Oregon. She was born March 23, 1918, in Graytown to Henry R. and Angeline Young Treter. On October 12, 1938, she married Walter Schroeder, who preceded her in death December 26, 1990. In addition to working on the family farm, Kathryn worked as a cook for the Benton-Carroll-Salem Schools for many years. She was a member of St. Mark Lutheran Church in Graytown, where she had been very active, belonging to the Women of the Church and working as church secretary for over 40 years. Kathryn enjoyed playing cards at the Genoa Senior Center. Kathryn is survived by her daughters, Diane John Weidner of Elmore and Darlene Jim Truman of Woodville; grandchildren, Angi Weidner Abt, Cathy Schroeder Morgan, Jon Weidner, Matt Truman, Krista Weidner Culbertson, Tom Schroeder, Nate Truman, and Nick Truman; great grandchildren, Bobby, Troy, Cheyenne, Taylor, Halie, Kaylin, Noah, Paul, Makyah, Shannon, Aaron, and Ryan; and sister, Marjorie Sondergeld of Graytown. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, son-Duane Schroeder, sisters-Elaine Knopp and Lois Wehner, brother-Myron Treter, and granddaughters-Laurie Schroeder and Renae Weidner Okonski. Visitation will be 1-8 p.m. Friday, February 8, 2008, in the Robinson-Walker Funeral Home, Genoa. The funeral service will be conducted 1:00 p.m. Saturday, February 9, 2008, in St. Mark Lutheran Church, Graytown, with interment to follow in Elliston Cemetery. The family has suggested memorials for Kathryn to St. Mark Lutheran Church.
