Kathryn Noggle-McCloskey passed from this life in the same way that she lived it; loving, spiritually strong, and persistent in challenging the torment of a failing body. She was determined to survive, but the pain was too great, the wound too deep, her body too broken to heal. Kathy died on Thursday morning, October 20, 2011, during emergency surgery at the University of Michigan Hospital. Kathy was born to David Lee and Mary Noggle on December 13, 1962. She grew up in the neighborhoods of the Westside of Toledo, where she developed a strong passion for helping those who needed a kind heart to lift them up from their suffering. This inspired her to volunteer at St. Anthonys Villa, and to seek a professional career in nursing. She received her first communion at Christ the King Roman Catholic Church, was a 1981 graduate of Central Catholic High School, and a 1984 graduate of the Toledo School of Practical Nursing, where she received her license in the hands-on care of patients. As an LPN, Kathy was entrusted with the treatment of residents in the care of Josina Lott Residential and Community Services, in Toledo, for ten years. She then worked for five years at the Toledo Clinic, specializing in urological care. Whenever her health allowed her, she volunteered her time to the Toledo St. Ursula Arrows, where her daughter Jennifer was a member of the 2004, Ohio State Championship, Volleyball Team. On Mothers Day, 2000, Kathy received her first liver transplant in a landmark procedure at The Medical College of Ohio. During her recovery, she was a constant source of light and hope to those who faced a similar challenge, or those whose lives were plagued with other conditions of personal or spiritual doubt. She founded Gepettos Workshop, where she served as CEO and was the shining star of production. She was a champion of the suffering and a vital member of The Second Chance, Liver Support Group. Kathy was admitted to the University of Michigan Hospital on Wednesday, October 5, 2011, for a second transplant. The surgical team provided brilliant medical care, but her tired body could fight no more. She leaves behind the lasting memory of a noble, loving heart, and spiritual warmth that keeps our hopes kindled in the trials that lie ahead. She was our Miracle. Kathryn was preceded in death by her father, Detective Sergeant David Lee Noggle. She is survived by her daughter, Jennifer McCloskey; her mother, Mary Noggle; sister, Julie Dan Walsh; brother, David Amy Noggle; grandmother, Kate Andrews; best friend, Mike Jirinec; an adoring family of aunts and uncles, Carol and Jim Schrader; Don and Linda Ginter; John Ginter; Kathy and Doug Greenlee; Jim and Karen Ginter; Teresa Earl; Darlene and Chuck Andrews; Darrell and Linda Noggle; Dan and Jenny Noggle; Pep and Deb Noggle; and a close family unit of nieces, nephews and cousins.
