Kathryn Barry

Kathryn (Boes) Barry, age 91, passed peacefully into eternal life on September 9, 2022, surrounded by her family.

Kathy was born in Toledo, Ohio, to Henry and Clara (Gehring) Boes, on January 30, 1931. She graduated from Rosary Cathedral School and was a 1949 graduate of Central High School. She married David William Barry, Jr. on October 24, 1953, and they celebrated 55 years together until Dave’s death in 2008.

Kathy was a member of Christ the King Church since 1960. She was a Sacristan, a lector, and on the Martha’s Meals team. Dave and Kathy enjoyed many years volunteering together. They were both Extra Ordinary ministers of holy communion at Christ the King and at St. Annes Hospital. They helped with the blood drive for the Red Cross and taught safe driving with AARP. Kathy was also active at Bay View Yacht Club until Dave’s passing.

Kathy is survived by her children, George (Paula), Stephen (Brenda) and Vincent (Rebecca) Barry; grandchildren, George (Katie) Barry, Jr., Elizabeth (Brian) Poweliet, Grant (Allison) Barry, Stephanie (James) Fisher, Amanda (Ken) Akiki, Rev. Zachary Barry, Gregory (Caroline) Barry, Victoria (David) Glubzinski, Madeline, Miriam, and Gianna Barry; 9 great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. Kathy was preceded in death by her parents; husband; brothers, Raymond, Henry, Robert, and Donald; one sister, Ruth Lewis.

Visitation will be held on Monday, September 12, 2022, from 3-8pm at Walker Funeral Home, Sylvania Ave, with a rosary service starting at 7pm. Visitation will be continued on Tuesday, September 13, 2022, from 9:30-10:30 at Christ the King Catholic Church, followed by a funeral mass at 10:30. Burial will follow at Mt. Carmel Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, donations are suggested to Christ the King Catholic church or Central Catholic High School in memory of Kathy. Walker Family Funeral Homes have been entrusted with arrangements.
