Kathleen Marie Zaborski

Kathleen Marie Zaborski, age 70, of Toledo, passed away August 24, 2023, in her home surrounded by the love of her family. She was born November 19, 1952, in Toledo to the late Bert and Eileen (Mohr) Schaefer and graduated from Central Catholic High School in 1970.

Kathy graduated from Flower Hospital School of Nursing in 1974 and went on to a 45-year career as a registered nurse working primarily in labor and delivery at St. Vincent/Mercy Medical Center. She had a profound impact on the doctors, nurses, and every mother she helped through the birthing process. Kathy was devoted to her family, putting all her children through private school, and becoming “Gams” to her beloved grandchildren. Her sense of humor touched every person she met and will live on forever through her family and friends.

Kathy is survived by her children, Deborah, Michael, Lynn Parker (Jeff), Merredith, Matthew (Clare) and (the good son) Asher Fishman; grandchildren, Anastasia, Max, Lily, Joshua, Lucas, Grace, Jake, Abe, Riley, Alivia, Caleb, Julianne, and Miles; sisters, Mary Kern (Jerry), Donna Dibert (Carl), Sharon Glesser (Herbie), Carol Thomas (Mike), Helen Scherzer (Tom), Margaret Adams (Jeff); and brother, Donald Schaefer; aunt and uncle, John and Jennie Mohr. She was also preceded in death by sisters, Patricia and Karen Schaefer.

Family and friends are invited to visit on Thursday from 2-8 p.m. in the Walker Funeral Home, 5155 Sylvania Ave. (west of Corey Rd.) where a scripture service will be held at 7:30 p.m. Additional visitation will be Friday, September 1, 2023, from 9:30 a.m. until the time of Kathy’s funeral Mass at 10:30 a.m. in Christ the King Catholic Church, 4100 Harvest Ln., Toledo. Committal will be private.
