Kathleen N. Schimming

Kathleen N. Schimming, 88, of Genoa, died in her home Monday morning, January 12, 2009. She was born May 6, 1920, in Clay Center, Ohio, to Carl and Alvena Rewaldt Nickelsen. Kathleen was a member of St. Johns United Church of Christ in Genoa. She was a graduate of Bowling Green State University. Kathleen taught 3rd grade at Brunner Elementary School in Genoa retiring in 1982. Prior to Brunner School, she taught at the Clay Center one-room school building and then at Camper Elementary. Kathleen is survived by her daughters, Terry Robert Zunk of Clay Center, Gale Frank Despones of Genoa, Shirley James Kleist of Perrysburg, and Jill Joe Worley of Genoa; nine grandchildren, ten great-grandchildren, four great-great grandchildren, and sister, Ilo Mae Hartman of El Paso, TX. Her parents, son, Michael Schimming, brother, Bernard Nickelsen, and sisters, Bernice Nickelsen and Edna Dehnart preceded her in death. The funeral service will be conducted 11:00 a.m., Thursday, January 15, 2009, in St. Johns United Church of Christ chapel, Genoa, with interment to follow in Allen Township Cemetery, Williston. Visitation will be 9-11 a.m. prior to the service. The family has suggested contributions in memory of Kathleen to Hospice of Northwest Ohio, Perrysburg, or St. Johns UCC, Genoa. The Robinson-Walker Funeral Home Crematory, Genoa, has assisted the family with arrangements.
