Writing this obituary is one of the last things that I will do for my Mom, who deserves the best. My Mom lived a long life of 94 years filled with so many memorable moments. She married my Dad, Duane Baker, on February 4th, 1946. They were married while he was on furlough during the aftermath of World War II. She had three children who she was very proud of and loved to the core of her heart. Larry Duane Baker (married to Janice Baker) is the eldest and she loved baking sugar cookies at Christmas for him. Kempie Lee Baker (married to Martha Baker) was born on Valentine’s Day. He was her little sweetheart who she had after a long day of teaching. I am a happy surprise and the only daughter, Kelly Ann Wood (married to James Wood). Mom and I loved our trips together to the Amish Country. Mom was thrilled when her grandchildren were born, Lynnette Ann Olnhausen (married to Dave Olnhausen) and Sabrina Marie Lauer. Sabrina loved cooking with Grandma when she would babysit and Grandma taught her to count to 100 before she reached kindergarten. Grandma also helped Lynnette with school by reading The Hobbit in order to help Lynnette with a large school project. Mom did a lot in the 94 years that she graced the earth. Highlights of Mom’s life included teaching at Walbridge School for approximately 40 years, teaching Sunday School for adults and children, teaching Junior Church, and had charge of Children’s Christmas Programs and children’s Day Programs at Mainstreet United Brethren Church in Walbridge, OH. Friends will be received on Friday, October 23, 2015 from 2:00 to 7:00 P.M. in the Witzler-Shank Funeral Home, 701 N. Main St. Walbridge, Ohio 43465 (419-666-3121) where funeral services will be held at 10:00 A.M. on Saturday, October 24, 2015. Burial will follow at Lake Township Cemetery. Donations will be accepted for the Alzheimer’s Association of Northwest Ohio as well as Hospice of Northwest Ohio. The family wishes to express many thanks to the caregivers at Wolfcreek, Genesis and, Hospice of Northwest Ohio.
