Katherine Rose Rogge

October 23, 1914 — August 1, 2013

Katherine Rogge, the most wonderful mother in the world, has gone home to join the Lord, her son and the rest of her family, at the tender young age of 98. Born on Oct. 23, 1914 to Fred and Carrie Dressel Lange, Katherine endured the hardships of the Great Depression and learned to be a frugal homemaker when times were hard, while working for and retiring from Owens Illinois. She was able to enjoy two final camping trips before a brief illness cut short her goal of living forever. Her main concern was for her familys happiness, working at her grandkids band concession stand at football games into her 80s. An avid gardener, Kate spent many hours tending her flowers and vegetables. She also enjoyed golf, achieving a hole in one reading, knitting and crocheting, puzzle books especially cryptogramsand whatever project her daughter might be working on. Twice a year for many years she organized the book table at the St. Clement rummage sale and also helped at the festival sweet shop. In 1939, she married Bernard Rogge, who preceded her in death in 1976. In 1964, she lost her son Jim. She is survived by her caregivers, daughter, Mary and son-in-law Tom Smith; along with grandsons, Eric Amber, Brian Kelly, Jeff Jezenia, great-grandchildren, Todd and Kelsi, numerous nieces and nephews, and one cousin. Friends may visit from 2-8 p.m. Sunday, August 11th, in the Walker Funeral Home, 5155 Sylvania Avenue, west of Corey, where the rosary will be recited at 7 p.m. A memorial mass will be celebrated on Monday, August 12th, at St. Clement Church, 3030 Tremainsville Road, at 10 a.m. Interment will be private. The family would like to thank the awesome staff of Hospice of Northwest Ohio for making her final three weeks a more comfortable and natural experience. Please consider a donation to Hospice of NW Ohio, 30000 River Road, Perrysburg, OH 43551, in lieu of flowers.
