Katherine (Kathy) Ann Allen, née McGeary, 93, of Maumee, OH, passed away on June 10, 2026. Born in Akron, OH, on January 21, 1933, she graduated from North High School in Akron. She met her husband, Wendell Allen, at age 18, and they married on December 27, 1952, shortly before his deployment to Tokyo, Japan, as a U.S. Air Force officer during the Korean War. Kathy joined him in Japan in June 1953, where they hiked Mount Fuji and formed lifelong friendships.
Kathy also met her lifelong best friend, Beth Roe, at Associates Discount Corporation, where Wendell worked and Beth was a cashier. Their friendship lasted more than 72 years. Wendell and Kathy later introduced Beth to Wendell's brother, Sam Allen, making Kathy's best friend her sister-in-law.
In her early years, Kathy worked as a secretary for Owens-Illinois Glass Company and supported Wendell by handling secretarial work during his first years as a lawyer. She later devoted herself to her family as a full-time homemaker and mother.
She and Wendell were members of St. Paul's Episcopal Church in Maumee for more than 60 years.
Wendell and Kathy loved traveling the world, visiting destinations such as Alaska, England, France, Argentina, Chile, and national parks throughout the United States.
Kathy spent many happy years playing tennis at Laurel Hill Tennis and Swim Club, continuing well into her 80s. She also cherished luncheons and birthday celebrations with her tennis friends.
Kathy remained independent in her Maumee home until the end, with a sharp mind and a caring heart. She kept her appointments, paid her bills, texted her friends, made Facebook posts, and stayed closely connected with each of her children by phone. In November and December 2025, she traveled to Georgia for a seven-week visit. She consistently put others first, and her children often described her as an angel and a saint. She found great joy in her grandchildren's lives, attending events and ceremonies for tennis, ice skating, orchestra, baseball, football, soccer, and Eagle Scout achievements.
Katherine was preceded in death by her parents, Albert Joseph McGeary and Helen Louise Morledge McGeary, and her siblings, Marjorie Jenkins, Jack McGeary, and Joan Ott. She is survived by her four children, Gregory P. Allen of Nashville, TN; Douglas M. Allen (Diane) of Delaware, OH; Rebecca S. Griffith (Scott) of Big Canoe, GA; and Michelle Allen-Parker (Christopher) of Nashville, TN; grandchildren Emily Allen Braunwarth (Scott), Courtney Griffith Jenkins (Ben), Brett Griffith, and Andrea Humason Lehman (Andrew); great-grandchildren Graham Lehman, Carter Lehman, Beau Jenkins, and Jameson Jenkins; sisters-in-law Beth Allen (Sam) and Kathy McGeary (Jack); brother-in-law Joe Ott (Joan); Chuck Held (Jean), Jim Allen, and nieces and nephews Jeff Jenkins, Mike Allen, Liz Allen, Steven McGeary, John McGeary, David McGeary, Eric Ott, Brian Ott, Jeff McGeary, and Kristin Markey,
