Karl F. Oetzel

Karl F. Oetzel, age 72 of Toledo, passed away Friday, March 13, 2009 at Franciscan Care Center in Sylvania. He was born on December 27, 1936, in Toledo, to Frederick and Signe Lindblom Oetzel. In March of 1976, Karl married Wilma Jean Leitner in Michigan. She preceded him in death in September of 2000. Karl served in the U.S. Army and also was a very active member at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church, Fraternal Order of Eagles #197, Amvets Post # 52, Scottish Rite of Toledo, UAW Local #12 and BPO Elks #1850. He worked at Jeep for 38 years before retiring in 1999. Karl is survived by his daughters: Georgia A. William Robedeau, Barbara J. Rahe and Mary Jane Donald Bush; grandchildren, Debra, Mark, George, Joseph, Elizabeth, Sara and Robert; great-grandchildren: Angela, Daniel and Adam; brother, Ed Oetzel; nieces, Gail and Kay and sister-in-law, Jane Jankowski. In addition to his wife, Wilma Jean, he was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Betty Gleason; granddaughter, Jennifer Rahe and sister-in-law Arlene Oetzel. Visitation will be on Tuesday from 1:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the Walker Funeral Home, 5155 W. Sylvania Ave. west of Corey Rd. with a Rosary at 7:00 p.m. Services will begin with on Wednesday with prayers at 9:30 a.m. at the funeral home followed by Mass of the Resurrection at 10:00 a.m. at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church, 6145 Hill Ave. The family would like to thank the staff of The Franciscan Care Center for all the loving care they provided for Karl.
