Karen C. Strohscher

Karen C. Strohscher, 90, of Genoa, Ohio, the “rock” of her family, passed away Thursday, December 29, 2022, at Mercy-St. Charles Hospital, Oregon, Ohio. Karen was born in Toledo, Ohio on February 23, 1932, to Allan L. and Gwendolyn M. (Holland) Carlson and married Robert A. Strohscher at St. John’s United Church of Christ, Genoa, on November 18, 1959. Robert preceded her in death on August 16, 1997.

Karen was a photographer at the former LaSalle’s Department Store in downtown Toledo from the late 1950’ through the mid 1970’s taking senior photos for the surrounding Toledo High Schools and family portraits. She was a solid foundation for her family, setting the example of how to be tuff when the going was hard and how to reach higher goals. To her there was no greater love than that which she had for her family. She will be remembered for her wicked sense of humor, her love of debating, especially about politics, and her devotion to the Pittsburgh Steelers and The Ohio State Buckeyes! She enjoyed reading just about anything, preferring thriller novels and political writings, and was a devoted pet lover of her dogs and cats.

Karen is survived by her daughters, Lynne (Joe) Hartley, Phyllis Pinson, grandsons, Matthew (Cori) Hartley, Brett Hartley, and Brandon (Sarah) Hartley, great grandchildren, Lukas, Thomas, Sophie, Henry, and Harrison, sisters, Sandra Goodnough, Carla (Roger) Bowyer, along with numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, and brother, Walter Carlson.

A funeral service for Karen will be held at 11:00 AM, Saturday, December 31, 2022, at the Robinson-Walker Funeral Home & Crematory, 501 West St., Genoa, Ohio, with visitation from 10:00 AM until the time of service. A graveside service will be scheduled for a later date at the Clay Township Cemetery, Genoa. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the Humane Society of Ottawa County, 2424 E.
