Karen Jill Rafferty, 82 of Monclova, Ohio, passed away Saturday, June 3, 2023 at home. She was born November 11, 1940 to Lee and Loretta (Adams) Nontell in Toledo, Ohio. After graduating from Anthony Wayne High School, Karen worked at the Elizabeth Scott Community. When she then married William “Frank” Rafferty in 1963, she put her career on hold to raise their family. Karen later returned to service through her work at the Anne Grady Center.
Karen will be remembered for many of her culinary signatures including potato salad, as well as her famous pickled eggs and beets. She loved snacking and sweets, and was known to loved ones as somewhat of an “expert food critic”. Karen was also an avid gardener and animal lover. She had many pets in her life, including a duck at one point.
Karen leaves to cherish her memory her; daughters Melissa (Brian) Smith, Pamela Rafferty, Dawn Rafferty, and Cynthia (Greg) Canales; grandchildren Christopher (Angela), David, Cameron, and Philip; great-grandchildren Seth and Kira; dear friends Collette and Lauretta; and sister-in-law Char. She is preceded in death by her husband William “Frank” Rafferty; siblings John, Oliver, and Mary; as well as her parents.
Family and Friends will be received Saturday, June 10, 2023 at Maison-Dardenne-Walker Funeral Home from 10 A.M. to 12 P.M. with services held immediately following. Internment will be at Highland Memory Gardens. In lieu of flowers, contributions in Karen’s memory can be made to The Maurer Family Cancer Center Bowling Green, Ohio.
