Karen Leopold died on April 20, 2025, leaving behind a legacy of compassion and service. Karen was born on February 5, 1955, to parents Donald and Sarah “Sally” Leopold.
Karen was a proud graduate of St. Ursula Academy and earned her bachelor’s degree from Xavier University. She dedicated much of her career to helping others as a case manager for Lucas County MRDD, where she also served on the board, advocating for individuals with developmental disabilities. She also volunteered for Hospice of Northwest Ohio, helping families in need of respite care during difficult times.
Her generosity extended beyond her profession. Karen was actively involved with the Victory Center and the 577 Foundation, where her love for nature and learning found a natural home. As a certified Master Gardener, she found joy in the simple beauty of plants and believed in their power to brighten any room.
Left to cherish her memory are her mother, Sally; many cousins who loved her dearly; her very long-time friend, Dean Smith; and her loving dog, Luna. She was preceded in death by her father, Donald; and sister, Sue Ellen Leopold.
Friends and family are invited to visit at Gesu Catholic Church, 2049 Parkside Blvd, Toledo, on April 28, 2025, from 9 a.m. to 10 a.m., where a Funeral Mass will be held at 10 a.m. Interment will follow at Resurrection Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to the Victory Center, or Hospice of Northwest Ohio.
