Karen M. Kashmer

Karen Marie Kashmer, age 71 of Oregon, Ohio passed away on January 21, 2024, at Hospice of Northwest Ohio – Perrysburg surrounded by her loving husband, Mike, brother, Rudy, and best friend, Marlene. She was born on February 14, 1952, in Toledo, Ohio to Rudolph and Josephine (Sedaleck) Mravec. As a child, Karen attended Sts. Cyril and Methodius School in Rossford, Ohio. She was a proud member of the National Honor Society at Cardinal Stritch High School, where she graduated from in 1970. Karen achieved a Bachelor of Arts Degree from Bowling Green State University, as well. For most of her career, she worked as a merchandise manager at JCPenney. On June 29, 1974, at St. Thomas Aquinas Parish in Toledo, Ohio, she married Michael Carl Kashmer, and he survives. Karen was a loyal member of All Saints Catholic Church in Rossford, Ohio. She always looked forward to attending Adoration on Wednesdays and helping with the bereavement meals. Karen was a kind, joyous spirit who will be dearly missed.

Karen enjoyed going on cruises to various locations, such as Hawaii, Alaska, and the Caribbean. As a natural crafter, she loved to create cross stitch artwork and sew items like curtains, bedspreads, and clothing. Karen was a caregiver to her mother and brother, Jerry, prior to their passings, as well. She also found joy in cooking Czech and Slovenian food and baking delicious desserts like chocolate cheesecake, poppyseed rolls, and nut rolls. Family gatherings were special to Karen. Whether she was hosting or simply attending, she loved to spend quality time with her loved ones.

Karen is survived by her husband, Michael, brother, Rudy (Linda) Mravec, and several nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her parents and brother, Jerry.

A Memorial Mass will be officiated by Father Anthony Recker on January 27, 2024, at 11:00am at All Saints Catholic Church, 628 Lime City Rd. Rossford, Ohio 43460 following a visiting hour from 10:00am-11:00am at the church. Cremation has taken place in care of Sujkowski-Walker Funeral Home and Crematory – Rossford. In lieu of flowers, the family has asked that donations in Karen’s memory be made to All Saints Catholic Church or the Toledo Humane Society 827 Illinois Ave. Maumee, Ohio.
