June Marie Sloan

October 15, 1924 — December 6, 2022

June Marie Sloan, 98, of Perrysburg, Ohio passed unexpectedly on Tuesday, December 6, 2022. She was born on October 15, 1924, to Raymond and Melanie (Vogel) MacDonald. June married high school sweetheart, Samuel William Sloan on June 3, 1944.


June, a woman full of grace and class, will be forever missed by her family and community. She was a loving wife, mother, sister, and an incredible grandmother. June was generous, kind-hearted, and most of all, clever. June loved ballroom dancing with Samuel, calligraphy, interior design, fashion, and shopping with her daughter, Cynthia.


She was an Edward Drummond Libbey High School graduate. June attended Miami University and Denison University. June served as the President of the Child Conservation League and as the Vice President of Mother’s Club at Beverly School. She was a longtime member of Toledo Country Club and Toledo Museum of Art. June was also a member of the Toledo Opera Guild, Axillary of the Ability Center, and Toledo Symphony League. She served on many committees including their style shows.


June is survived by her loving daughter, Cynthia Hoffman; grandchildren, Heather Cousino-Proch (Charles Jr.), Courtnay Cousino, Andrea DeWood (Matthew), Nathan Sloan (Elizabeth), Phoebe Sloan (Joshua Byers); great-grandchildren, Alexia Proch, Logan Proch, Sloan DeWood, Owen Sloan, D. George DeWood III, London Cohen, Zoe Sloan, Mac DeWood, and Ruby DeWood; and sibling, Sharon Baumgartner (James). Her loving companion of the past seven years, Donald Nicholson. June was preceded in death by her husband, Samuel Sloan; son, Stephen Sloan; great-granddaughter, Samantha Proch; parents, Raymond MacDonald, and Melanie MacDonald; and sister, Patricia LeRoy.


June’s family sends a special thank you to staff at Hospice of Northwest Ohio Perrysburg for their kindness and comfort.


A private service for family will be held at Toledo Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in June Sloan’s name to Young Women’s Christian Association (YWCA), 1018 Jefferson Ave., Toledo, Ohio 43604 or to a charity of donor’s choice.
