Julie A. Keil, 67, passed away on February 23, 2026, from complications after a long and courageous battle with cancer.
A resident of Columbus, Ohio since the late 1980s, Julie was born and raised in the Fremont & Woodville, Ohio areas. She earned a master's degree in public policy and public administration from Bowling Green State University. Early in her career, she worked at United Way of Greater Toledo before relocating to Columbus.
In Columbus, Julie led a successful statewide ballot issue campaign to amend the Ohio Constitution to make it easier for the state to provide financial assistance for housing development. She later served for several years as Executive Director of the Ohio Child Support Enforcement Agency Directors' Association (OCDA). Julie eventually founded her own lobbying and consulting firm, Capitol Success LLC.
During her career, Julie represented numerous organizations, including the Ohio Association of Rehabilitation Facilities and the Rehabilitation Providers Resource Organization. She was also a member of the Ohio Lobbying Association. Julie retired from lobbying in 2022. Julie loved residing at her home in German Village and always looked forward to coming home for the holidays to see friends and family while staying at her Catawba Island home. She also had a deep love for her cats, including Curly and Rascal, who preceded her in passing, and her beloved pet companion, Bruce
Julie is survived by her aunts and uncles; Carolyn Molter, Mary Leemaster, Judith Holke, and Robert Johnson; first cousins, Jay Molter (Terri), David Happeny, the late Eric Happeny, Kelli Weaver (Matt), Michael Holke (Shannon), Dawn Ward, Traci Johnson, and Troy Johnson (Audra); as well as many second and third cousins; and many friends and colleagues who grew to love her over the years. She was preceded in death by her parents, Linell Johnson Norman (Jack Norman) and Jack Keil.
A graveside service will be held at Westwood Cemetery, Woodville, Ohio Saturday, May 16, 2026 at 10:00 am. A fellowship lunch will follow at Solomon Lutheran Church, Woodville. Expressions of sympathy in Julie's memory may be directed to your favorite humane society. Robinson Walker Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.
