Julian Joseph Mack, 85, of Charlotte, passed away on March 24, 2013 in Charlotte. Julian was born June 17, 1927 in Toledo, OH, the son of Stanley and Mary Trojanowski Machinski. Julian served in the Army Air Force during WWII before earning Bachelor and Masters degrees from the University of Toledo. He was a member of Tau Kappa Epsilon fraternity and sang in the university choir. On November 27, 1958, he married Helen Hermes and the two later moved to Charlotte area in 1966. Mr. Mack, as he was called by his students, began his teaching career in Darke County in Montpelier, OH. He took a position in Royal Oak, MI and taught math at Dondero and Kimball High Schools. He was principle of Potterville High School. His last teaching assignment was in Grand Ledge, MI. During this time, he was also a math lab instructor at Lansing Community College. Julian is survived by his wife of 54 years, Helen; their daughter Ellen Jack Graham of Portland; three grandchildren; Kyle Rae, Kelsey Jae and Mitchell Vaughn; sister, Zita Bordenave; and several nieces and nephews. He is predeceased by his sister, Bernice Horvath and brothers Edward, Edmund, Leonard and Stanley. Visitation will be held Wednesday, March 27, 2013 from 2-4 and 6- 8 pm with a prayer service at 6:00 PM at Pray Funeral Home, Charlotte, Michigan with Rev. Fr. Francis Mossholder officiating. A Memorial Gathering will be held from 1:00-2:00 pm on Thursday, March 28, 2013 at Robinson Funeral Home in Oak Harbor, Ohio. Interment will follow at Union Cemetery in Oak Harbor. Memorial contributions may be made to the Michigan Parkinson Foundation or an educational fund for his grandchildren.
