Julia A. Green, 90, Ottawa Lake, Michigan, passed peacefully from this life on February 24, 2016. Born October 30, 1925 in Detroit to Phillip and Ethel Kirby. She was a graduate of Toledo Libby High School and attended college in Chicago, Illinois. Julia formerly co-owned and operated the Collingwood Motel, and worked at Aldens, Inc. (Rossford). She was a member of Ridgewood Church of Christ, a lifetime member of the Toledo Chapter of the NAACP, and the Coalition of Black Trade Unions (CBTU). She was also active as a Spouse of a Retiree with UAW Local 14, which included planning their summer field trips. Julia also worked the election polling station in Whiteford Township (MI) for more than 30 years. Left to cherish her memory are her children, Yvette Clark (Stanley), Antoinette Martin (Maurice), Otis Green, Jr. (Marianne), Duane Green (Carla), Glenn Green (Debora), Renee Green-Thomas (Daniel), Lynette Eggleton (Michael) and Michelle Green; 15 grandchildren; 16 great grandchildren; 2 great-great grandchildren; brothers, Troy Kirby (Margaret), James Kirby, and one sister-in-law, Mattie Kirby. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 67 years, Otis Green, Sr.; siblings, Albert Leroy Kirby, Dorothy Joyner, and two grandsons, Derek Martin and Paul Eggleton. Family and friends are invited to visit from 5-8 p.m. Thursday, March 3, 2016 at Walker Funeral Home, 5155 Sylvania Ave (west of Corey Rd. / Whiteford Rd.), Toledo. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m., Friday, March 4, 2016 at Ridgewood Church of Christ, 1818 Ridgewood Ave., Toledo, where additional visitation will begin at 9:00 a.m.
