Julia Gotwald Nickerson Brown (February 12, 1928 - July 10, 2021) It is with great sadness that our family announces the passing of our dear Mother and Grandmother, Julia Gotwald Nickerson Brown, who was loved by everyone for her kind and caring nature. Julie was born on February 12, 1928 to Margaret and David Gotwald of York, PA. Following her studies at Gettysburg College, Julie moved to Perrysburg where she met and fell in love with Marcus Franklin Nickerson III (Nick) who became a prominent architect. Together, they shared 29 loving years of marriage and raised their 5 children. After Nick’s death, Julie met and married Ruel Brown, Jr. (Tad). The two shared a world of travel and happiness for over 23 years, enjoying their shared children and grandchildren together. Julie’s favorite place on earth was our camp “Ogontz'' on Otsego Lake in Cooperstown, NY. She never missed a summer and this would have been her 93rd year. Julie was a longtime member of First Presbyterian Church, and the Country Garden Club of Perrysburg. She volunteered for the American Red Cross and the Perrysburg Heights reading program, however her life’s passion was her true devotion to her family for which we are eternally grateful. Surviving are her children, Margaret Quick (Jim), Julia Lindsey (Patrick), Rick Nickerson (Kim) and Mary Roberts; Tad’s children, Peter Brown (Paula), Ben Brown (Peggy) and Betsy Rumpf (Bruce); her grandchildren, Maggie Kinney, Hannah Maloney, Frances Nickerson, Marcus Nickerson, Megan Craig, Sarah Roberts, Kate Lee, Fred Brown, Tory Rumpf, Ben Rumpf, Alex Rumpf, Sam Rumpf and Nancy Rumpf. She had 11 great-grandchildren. Julie was predeceased by her parents, her husbands, her brother David Gotwald and her son Marcus Franklin IV. There will be a memorial boat ride on Lake Otsego in July and a private family interment at Fort Meigs cemetery in August. Memorials in Julie’s name can be made to First Presbyterian Church of Perrysburg at 200 East Second Street or Hospice of Northwest Ohio. In honor of Julie, please remember to be kind to each other.
