Judith Lynn Speakman, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and friend, passed away peacefully on June 4, 2025, at Stein Hospice in Sandusky, Ohio.
Born on August 5, 1948, in Lynchburg, Ohio, Judy was one of eight children of Ralph and Dorothy (Rittenhouse) Smallwood. She graduated from Wilmington High School in 1966 and married the love of her life, Terry Speakman, in 1969. Together they welcomed their son, Terry Douglas, in 1970.
Judy and Terry moved to Port Clinton in 2019, where they enjoyed a relaxed life filled with friendship, sunshine-filled vacations in Florida, and time well spent together. Judy was a devoted homemaker and, in her earlier years, cared for many neighborhood children as a trusted and loving babysitter.
Judy had a deep love for animals and never turned away a stray — whether it walked into her yard or just happened to wander nearby. She also loved a good steak dinner and cherished time spent dancing at the Amvets and making memories with her grandchildren. Her warmth, laughter, and generous spirit left a lasting impression on all who knew her.
Judy was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; her brothers, Roger and Mike Smallwood; and her sister, Janice Smith.
She is survived her son, Terry Speakman, and daughter-in-law, Colleen Speakman; her grandchildren, Eric, Zachary, and Imilie Speakman; and her great-grandchildren, Lucas Taylor, Braylynn Speakman, Rylee Speakman, and Isabella Budiasa. She is also survived by her siblings, Bonnie Ater, Barbara Glasspool, Terry Smallwood, and James "Jim" Smallwood, along with many nieces, nephews, and friends who will miss her dearly.
Graveside services will be held at 9:00 a.m. on Saturday, June 7, 2025, at Riverview Cemetery in Port Clinton, Ohio.
