Judith Gross

Judy Gross died peacefully surrounded by her loving family on June 4, 2023, at the age of 77. She was born to William Early and Marjorie Ward on September 9, 1945, in Toledo, Ohio. She graduated from Libbey High School in Toledo and went on to get her bachelor’s degree from the University of Toledo.

She met her best friend and love of her life, Jack Gross, and they were married in 1985 and their two families came together to make one. For 37 years they enjoyed a great and enviable life together.

Judy was very proud of her career with the Lucas County, Ohio Sheriff’s Department. She worked her way up the ranks and eventually became the first female Lieutenant Deputy Sheriff and marine patrol captain.

After retirement, Judy and Jack spent their winters in Florida boating, fishing, snorkeling, beach-combing, and simply having a great time with friends and family. She had so much fun! She even kept a log of every fish caught!

Judy will be sadly missed by her loving husband, Jack; daughter, Joanne McLean; daughter and husband, Michelle and Thomas Lupica; stepdaughter, Cindy Harris; stepdaughter, Tracy Giles; stepdaughter and husband, Tina and John Glass; stepson and wife, Chris and Shelly Gross; grandsons, Chad McLean and Justin Bailey; step-grandchildren, Keith Letson, Ashley Eilrich, Matt Young, Joseph Mehalic, Courtney Perna, Josh Giles, Rob Giles, Dustin Glass, Danielle Glass, Dillan Glass, Jacob Gross and Carrie Fisher; many great-grandchildren; and sister, Jeanne Roberts. She was preceded in death by her parents.

The family will welcome visitors on Saturday, June 10, 2023, from 11 am – 2 pm at the Walker Funeral Home, Oregon Chapel (3500 Navarre Ave.) with a Celebration of Life beginning at 2 pm. Interment will follow at Rusha, Carroll Township Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests a donation to the Toledo Humane Society.
