Judith Ann (Nestich) Birt, age 83, of Maumee, Ohio, was called home by her Heavenly Father, on Sunday, July 27, 2025 in the care of Lakes of Monclova and her family.
Judie was born in Blairsville, Pennsylvania to Thomas and Mary (Daubner) Nestich on July 26, 1942. At the age of 10, her family moved to Toledo, Ohio. Judie met her husband, Richard, while they were students at Waite High School. She was at Don’s Drive-In with friends when he saw her across the street at 6th and Main and fell in love at first sight. They were married at Good Shepherd Church on September 1, 1962 and were devoted to each other for almost 63 years. Judie worked at National Family Opinion in the mail center as a clerk and in the call center as a consumer interviewer. She retired after 22 years of service.
Judie’s family was her whole purpose in life. Being a mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother were her greatest accomplishments. Her happiest moments were spent with her children and grandchildren. Judie was a constant presence at their activities. She enjoyed many hours watching hockey games, wrestling matches, band concerts and musical theatre productions. Birthday and holiday celebrations were the highlight of Judie’s life. She always wanted to keep the party going and was the last to leave family gatherings. Christmas was Judie’s favorite time of the year. Many joyful hours were spent decorating, wrapping presents and baking cookies. Kolaches were her specialty.
Left to cherish Judie’s memory are her husband Richard; and her children, Tracey (Dennis) Robbins, Stacey (Loren) Brown, Rich (Kim) Birt, Brian (Rachel) Birt; grandchildren, Jake (Mary) and Eli Robbins, Jordan Brown and Lindsay (Nick) Tassos, Jared (Emily), Zach, Brett (Chayah), Brayden and Cassidy Birt; great-grandchildren, Mylo and Jude Tassos, Tommie and Claira Birt; sisters, Dolly Sasala, Terri (Larry) Sedlak, Jackee (Ozzie) Lay; sister-in-law, Charlotte Nestich; and the extended Nestich family with whom she shared many fond memories. Judie was preceded in death by her parents and siblings, Mamie Vargo, Tommy Nestich, Tootsie Sattler and Patsy Gerding.
The family would like to express their appreciation to the staff at Lakes of Monclova for their care and compassion to Judie.
The family will welcome visitors on Wednesday, July 30, 2025 from 5:00-8:00pm at Walker Funeral Homes on 501 Conant Street, Maumee.
