Judith Ann Modene

January 21, 1939 — January 29, 2026

Judith (Judy) Ann Modene née Wold was a treasured grandmother, mother, wife, and friend for her incredibly full 87 years of life. Born January 21st, 1939 in St. Cloud, Minnesota, she passed away in the early hours of January 29th, 2026 at Hospice of Northwest Ohio. Judy often spoke of God as her Shepherd, finding comfort in the words of Psalm 23, and she shared that comfort with others during their hardest seasons. She told people about Jesus, and now she rests in that same peace and care of the Shepherd she trusted.

The daughter of Elmer and Gustava (Johanson) Wold, she was raised in Santiago, Minnesota and spent some of her favorite years at Bethany Lutheran College. It was there she met her husband, David Modene, who she married on February 2, 1958 in Albert Lea, Minnesota. David’s career took them to both coasts, back to Minnesota, then to Chicago, and finally moving to and settling down in Perrysburg. They loved to travel with their friends on cruises and on their boat -- the Viking -- on Lake Erie, and family remember many fond days with ‘Bumpy’ and Grandma on those waters.

Together Judy and David raised their two sons who highlight their best characteristics. Judy loved to tell her friends and anyone who would listen of their achievements in real estate and insurance and what good fathers and sons they are, her “good boys.”

An accomplished and dedicated real estate broker with Century 21 and later RE/MAX Masters, she would tell proudly of selling homes on Christmas Day and working for her clients. Judy was most proud however of her seven grandchildren, telling anyone who met her about them, and never happier than when they would visit. And they were never happier than when she would call to sing them 'Happy Birthday' or make blueberry pancakes at sleepovers.

Judy is preceded in death by her husband, David, brothers James, Norman, and Jordan Wold, and daughter-in-law Nancy Modene.

She is survived by her two sons, Jonathan D. (Jean) Modene and David J. (Sandy) Modene, as well as her grandchildren, Sarah (Thea) Grabiec, Justin Modene, Matthew (Raven) Modene, Megan (Elderkin) Mwilitsa, Hanna Modene, Mary Judith (Rammie) Salahat, and Jennifer (Ashton) Baalaer. She is also survived by her great-grandchildren, Elijah Mwilitsa, Adelynn Baalaer, and Braxton Baalaer. Judy will be greatly missed by her family in other states, including but not limited to Jamie (Mick) Santilli, Candy (Bill) Engstler, Marlene (Darrel) Tollefson, and Gary (Mary) Moden.

No time with Judy could ever be enough, but we will forever carry her and her memories with us and are grateful to have had the best cheerleader, guide, and friend that was granted us for 87 years.
