Judith Ann Allen, affectionately known as "Pookie" and "MaryJane," age 80, of Port Clinton, Ohio, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, June 17, 2025, at Elmwood Assisted Living in Fremont, Ohio. She was born on November 22, 1944, in Port Clinton, the daughter of Lawrence and Edna Mae (Pearce) Richey.
A 1962 graduate of Port Clinton High School, Judith attended Ohio University for two years, earning a certificate that qualified her to teach. She worked as a substitute teacher at Lacarne Schools before beginning a long and fulfilling career at Magruder Hospital in Port Clinton, where she served as Business Office Manager for 30 years until her retirement in 2005.
Judith was an avid knitter, having lovingly crafted over 1,000 baby sweaters over the years. She had a zest for life that was best expressed through her favorite pastimes: traveling, camping in the RV, looking for deer, and hosting cherished Sunday dinners with her family. Some of her notable personal accomplishments include hiking the Grand Canyon and parachuting out of an airplane. She found joy in breakfasts and lunches with her sisters and friends, and was a spirited card player, especially fond of euchre and pinochle. Most of all, she adored attending her children’s and grandchildren’s sporting events, always cheering them on with pride and love.
She married Robert “Bob” Allen, on October 3, 1981, who survives her and was her devoted companion for over four decades.
She is also survived by her loving children, David (Shelby) Colston, Dwayne (Lori) Colston, Cathy Allen, Paul (Tade) Allen, Thomas Allen, and Timothy Allen; five grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and her beloved sisters, Joan Richey and Jane McIntire. She was preceded in death by her parents; her first husband, Dean Colston; and her beloved dog, Sam.
