Juanita J. Slaman, age 86, was born June 10, 1930, in Toledo, Ohio. Juanita passed away peacefully to the Lord’s house, surrounded by her family on Wednesday, October 5, 2016, of natural causes, while being cared for by loving hands at Sisters of St. Francis Rosary Care Center. Juanita was a resident of the Toledo area her entire life where she met and married Eugene, her husband of 60 years. Juanita was an active and dedicated member of St. George Orthodox Cathedral where she served in many leadership positions for the Ladies Benevolent Society and made many life-long friends who became extended family. Juanita enjoyed cooking and was well known for the delectable Lebanese dishes she prepared over the years for family and friends. She was also a devoted follower of the “Young and the Restless” for 43 years. Juanita was preceded in death by her beloved Eugene and her dear mother and father Mary and Nickolas David. She is survived by her two sons, David (Tina) Slaman and Todd (Joyce) Slaman. She is dear “Sito” to grandchildren, Matthew (Angel) Slaman, Adam (Kristen) Slaman, Christie (Mike) Lukegord, and Brian Slaman, and proud great Sito to great-grandchildren Quinn, Henley and Emily. Juanita is also survived by many special people who are family to her including Carol Slaman, Cindy (Tom) Ritter, Glen (Arlene) Bigley and Michelle Ellis. Family and friends may call at Walker Funeral Home, 5155 W. Sylvania Ave. (west of Corey Rd) on Sunday, October 9, 2016 from 4:00 – 9:00 PM, with Trisagion Prayer Service at 8:00 PM. There will also be visitation on Monday from 10:00 AM until the time of the service at 11:00 AM at St, George Orthodox Cathedral, 3754 Woodley Rd. Toledo, OH 43606. Interment will follow in Toledo Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. George Cathedral.
