Juanita F. Maxwell, age 91, made her transition on November 22, 2016. She was born Oct. 5, 1925 to William and Clara (Slater) VanDersee and was the youngest of four children. Juanita graduated from Blissfield High School in 1944. In 1948 she married Carroll Max Lloyd Maxwell Jr. and from this union came Barbara, William and Susan. Nita worked for many years, retiring from Bingham Stamping as a purchasing agent; then office manager of Slicechief Co. running the business with her husband. Through the years the family enjoyed many vacations together, usually with a historic site included when visiting family and friends in Florida and Indian River, Michigan. She was a long time member of Unity of Toledo Spiritual Center which allowed her to participate in many positive activities; especially the Faith Group. One of her favorite pleasures was knitting mittens caps to send out west to the Catholic Indian Schools. Nita is survived by her daughters, Barbara Cairl and Sue Brown. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Max; son, Bill; sisters, Dorothy Osthimer and Hulda Otten; brother, Carl VanDersee; and son-in-law, Charlie Brown. A memorial visitation will be held on Sunday, November 27, 2016 from 2 p.m. until 5 p.m. at the Walker Funeral Home, 5155 W. Sylvania Avenue. Private inurnment will take place at Ottawa Hills Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, tributes in Juanitas name may be sent to ProMedica Hospice.
