Juan Cantu

Juan Arnoldo Cantu, 89, of Oregon, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, October 20, 2020 at his home surrounded by his loving family. He was born in Laredo, TX to Juan Francisco and Estefana (Castro) Cantu on May 2, 1931. Juan proudly served his country in the U.S. Army and later in the National Guard. He was a true patriot that loved his country. One of his most treasured memories was being part of the Honor Flight to Washington D.C. He married his love, Margie H. Ceniceros on June 28, 1958. Juan was a hardworking family man; never missing a sporting event or school activity of his children or grandchildren; no matter the distance. He assisted coaching his son’s baseball team winning the city championships and supported his son’s love of hockey. He loved gardening, took pride in caring for his lawn, and enjoyed watching John Wayne westerns. Left to cherish his memory is his wife, Margie; children, Timothy John (Marie) Cantu, Maria Elena (Greg) Lozier; grandchildren, Joseph (Leticia) Cantu, Jacob (Lina) Cantu, Jalen Cantu, Kelsey (Bob Schulz) West, Austin (Blair Shea) Lozier; great-grandchildren, Zion Abel Cantu, Malachi Juan West; twin great-grandchildren to be, Joshua and Ilya Cantu; and siblings, Emily Duran and Arturo Cantu. He was preceded in death by his parents; and sister, Corina Martinez. Friends will be received on Friday, October 23, 2020 from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Walker Funeral Home, Oregon Chapel, 3500 Navarre Avenue, Oregon (419-691-6768), where the Rosary will be recited at 7:00 p.m. A Funeral Mass will be held on Saturday, October 24, 2020 beginning at 10:00 a.m. at St. Jerome Catholic Church, 300 Warner Street, Walbridge, OH. Burial will follow in Restlawn Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Juan’s name may be made to Hospice of Northwest Ohio, 30000 E. River Road, Perrysburg, Ohio 43551, St. Jerome Catholic Church, or to a veteran’s organization of your choice.
