Joye Faye Griggs

Joye Faye Griggs, age 70, of Toledo, passed away Tuesday, October 25, 2011 at Hospice of Northwest Ohio, Toledo. Joye graduated from Woodward High School in 1958 and married Clinton Griggs on January 21, 1961. He preceded her in death January, 2008. Joye worked for the City of Toledo for most of her career. The position she held before her retirement was working for the Fire Department as the secretary to Chief Michael Bell, which she truly enjoyed. Joye was member of Bethel Missionary Baptist Church in Rossford. A devoted wife, mother, grandmother, sister and aunt, she will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her. Joye is survived by her loving mother, Gertrude Cannon; her loving children, Barbara K. Kent Hughes, and Janice F. Robert Browns; and her brother, Larry Sue Cannon; five grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was also preceded in death by her sister, Rose Marie. Friends may call from 4-8 p.m. on Thursday in the Walker Funeral Home, 5155 W. Sylvania Ave. west of Corey where funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m., Friday, October 28, 2011. Burial will follow in Ottawa Hills Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, memorials for Joye may be directed to Hospice of Northwest Ohio. The family wishes to express a heartfelt thank you to all of the staff at Hospice and St. Vincent Mercy Medical Center for their loving and tender care of Joye.
