Joyce M. Worden

Joyce (Fruchey) Worden, 91, of Toledo, Ohio died peacefully at the Goerlich Center on March 4, 2015. She was born to the late Joseph and Elsie Fruchey on October 27, 1923 in the family home on Grand Ave. She was a graduate of DeVilbiss High School and attended the University of Toledo. She worked for many years at Ohio Citizens Trust Co. where she met the love of her life, William E. Worden. They were married September 26, 1953 and together raised two daughters. Joyce did china painting and both daughters have many of her pieces to cherish. She was also a wonderful cook and the family enjoyed many of her meals. Joyce was a member of Hope Lutheran Church where she served on the Altar Guild, was in the knitting group, and loved being involved with the annual Super Sale. Surviving are both daughters, Andrea (Dennis) Schneider of Greer, SC and Lydia (Matthew) Shindel of Holland, OH; grandchildren, David (Debbie) Schneider of Mt. Pleasant, SC, Mindy Piper of Greer, SC, Laura (Doug) Danowski of Atlanta, GA, and Sarah Shindel (fiancé, Joe Dotson) of Chicago, IL; four great-grandchildren, John and Kyle Piper and Mason and Madison Danowski; her sister, Eleanor Hall of Bradenton, FL; and two nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, William; and several nephews. The family would like to sincerely thank the Goerlich Center for their love, wonderful care and support over the past few years. Visitation will be Friday, March 6, 2015 from 2-8:00pm at the Walker Funeral Home, 5155 Sylvania Ave. (west of Corey Rd.) and at Hope Lutheran Church, 2201 Secor Rd. Toledo, OH 43606 on Saturday, March 7, 2015 from 10:30am until the time of service at 11:30am. Interment will follow at Historic Woodlawn Cemetery.
