Joyce C. Stearns, 92, of Elmore, Ohio and formerly of Bowling Green, Ohio, passed away on May 3, 2022, at Bay Park Community Hospital, Oregon, Ohio. Joyce was born in Weston, Ohio on March 26, 1930, the daughter of Jacob A. and Laura H. (Wilhelm) Businger. She married Ivan Stearns at the Trinity United Methodist Church in Bowling Green, Ohio on October 22, 1950. He preceded her in death on July 8, 2009.
Joyce was a homemaker who was dedicated to her own family and her family at Trinity United Methodist Church in Bowling Green, where she was a member for over 60 years. She dedicated her time to help others through her church, Martha’s Kitchen Food Pantry, and many other service organizations in the area. She was a member of the King’s Daughters and Sons Group and the church Dart ball team. Joyce also looked forward to baking, especially anything sweet, reading a wide range of books, working on puzzles, and doting over her beloved cats, “Glory,” “Big Boy,” and “Lady”.
Joyce is survived by her grandchildren, Katrina Carter and Aaron Ebersole, great grandchildren, Ivan Carter, R’yionne Carter and Sharrice Carter, and great grandson, K’airo Johnson. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, and three daughters, Linda Stearns, Sherry Stearns, and Peggy Ebersole.
A celebration of Joyce’s life will be held from 1:00-4:00 PM, on Saturday, May 14, 2022 at Trinity United Methodist Church, 200 N. Summit St., Bowling Green, Ohio 43402. Interment will be at a later date in the Weston Cemetery, Weston, Ohio. The Robinson-Walker Funeral Home & Crematory of Genoa, Ohio is privileged to serve Joyce’s family.
