Joyce E. Oehmler

Joyce (Glover) Oehmler passed away peacefully on September 22, 2026 at the age of 87. She was born March 6, 1939, in Springfield, OH. She lived in Maumee, OH at the time of her passing.

After graduating from Springfield High School in 1956, she earned her Bachelor's Degree in Business Education at Wittenberg University in 1960 and completed her Master's Degree in Guidance and Counseling in 1975 from the University of Toledo. She taught in several schools in Columbus, OH and spent 25 years teaching Cooperative Business Education at Libbey High School in Toledo, OH with over 30 years of service.

Following retirement in 1996, Joyce and her husband travelled extensively within and outside the U.S. with Europe being a favorite destination. She and Oscar spent winters in Bonita Springs, Florida. She was an avid euchre and pinochle player and really enjoyed playing cards with her grandchildren. In her final years, the family gathered for her birthday and celebrated with Irish food due to its proximity to St. Patrick's Day. She insisted on playing games and there always had to be prizes for the winner.

Joyce will be remembered for her quick wit and keen sense of humor. She had numerous pets throughout her life, and her favorite was her Himalayan cat, Chan. In her final years, she really enjoyed weekend visits from her great grand dog, Hammie, a Golden Retriever.

Joyce is survived by her daughters, Lori (John Boring) Pendleton, Beth (Don) Taylor of Columbus, OH; and grandchildren, Katie (Jeff) Nelson, Ryan Ignasiak, and Audrey Taylor. She also leaves behind several nieces. She is preceded in death by her husband, Oscar Oehmler; her parents, Clarence and Gertrude Glover; and sisters, Charlotte Serocka and Sandra Brown.
