Joyce B. Nissen, 68, of Elmore, died Friday morning, December 20, 2013, at Riverview Healthcare Campus, Oak Harbor, Ohio. She was born January 14, 1945, to Marie Smarkel and John W. Sorensen, Sr. Joyce was a member of Trinity Lutheran in Kingsway and had worked as a bank teller for several years. She was a member of the Florida Winnies and the Ottawa County 4-H Club and enjoyed helping the kids with their 4-H projects and animals. Joyces other hobbies included crafts, baking cookies and gardening. She had taken a trip to Alaska, which she greatly enjoyed. Joyce is survived by her sons, Jason Becki Nissen and Christopher Kelly Nissen, both of Elmore and Kirk Nikki Nissen of Oak Harbor and seven grandchildren. She is also survived by her brothers, John Denise Sorensen, Jr. of Colorado and Douglas Michele Sorensen of Curtice. Her parents preceded her in death. A memorial service for Joyce will be held at Trinity Lutheran Church in Kingsway on Saturday, January 18, 2014 at 11:00am. Burial will take place in Elliston Cemetery, Graytown. The family has suggested memorials to Stein Hospice, 1200 N. Sycamore Line Rd., Sandusky, OH 44870; American Cancer Society, 740 Commerce Dr. Suite B., Perrysburg, OH 43551; or Riverview Auxiliary, 8180 W. St. Rt. 163, Oak Harbor, OH 43449. The Robinson-Walker Funeral Home Crematory of Oak Harbor has assisted the family with arrangements.
